2008 has not been the best year I’ve ever had. It started off pretty badly, got worse, continued to get worse and in the last five months picked up. Getting back into gaming and cooking has been one of the reasons that things have picked up in the latter half of the year, although that ancient force of evil “Real Life” has managed to get in the way magnificently.
So, what does 2009 hold?
Well, for the next two months, I’m going to be swamped with university work. Firstly coursework essays (on John Major and the European single market), then finishing my dissertation (comparative federalism with reference to America, Canada, Belgium and Germany). I’m going to make a lot of effort to keep my posting regular during this time, because I don’t like going for months without any posts at all, as I was doing in November. Hopefully, during the spring I’ll be able to write a buffer of articles which will help to keep posting regular even if I don’t have time to write something brand new.
As far as the site goes, I have the domain name for a year and I like it. So unless something goes horrifically wrong, it’s going to be around for a while. If nothing else, keeping active on here means I am still thinking about my campaign ideas, even if I’m not playing.
I’ve got a lot of ideas for the Doctor Who setting that I’ve written about previously, sheets and sheets of setting ideas written but not typed for the Fallout: Glasgow setting (which I also need to come up with a better name for), the rough plot arcs and first five levels planned for the Hand of Kelemvor campaign and I’m toying with using a Castle Greyhawk/Zygag-style setting for the wiki PBM campaign that is going to be one of my main priorities in the next few months. So, at least I have both ambition and ideas for the next 12 months.
Quick Priority List:
- Start work on the Doctor Who setting.
- Flesh out the world for Fallout: Glasgow.
- Finish setting up a GoS Wiki for publishing campaign materials.
- Start a play by mail D&D campaign.
- Carry on looking for the ideal site design.
- More Gamer Grub articles (ideally one per fortnight).
- Get some politics articles up.
And here’s hopeing for success in 2009
